Nickerson EMS is a volunteer department that covers 134 square miles, including the City of Nickerson and the Highlands in northern Reno County. The governing body for this organization is the City of Nickerson.

The population Nickerson EMS serves is approximately 2100 residents. Responding to an average of 125 medical calls per year, Nickerson EMS also assists other surrounding areas through mutual aid agreements.
